Online and flexible methodology

The OBS methodology is collaborative, international and online; training professionals using a less space and time dependent way of working, and taking advantage of the possibilities provided by technology designed for teamwork. It is designed to facilitate the interaction of several key elements:

  • Programme Directors who design the programme and select the faculty.
  • The faculty, which facilitates exchange between students, provides updated content and selects the most successful cases. This faculty is international, innovative and pioneering in the incorporation of technology into their professional field.
  • Programme Managers who monitor the progress of students.
  • The students, who pass academic tests to certify their knowledge and their ability to apply it.

Collaborative learning

At OBS we encourage collaborative work between teachers, professionals and students, because this multiplies learning opportunities exponentially and also helps the development of communication, teamwork, planning, time management, negotiation, influencing and leadership skills.

Contents and Activities

Content selection and planning of activities by lecturers are key factors of the methodology. These contents and activities include debates, problem solving, case analysis, scenario comparisons, research projects or simulators. The students on the programme will receive:

  • Themed presentations by teachers and experts.
  • Manuals, technical notes and the latest reference books.
  • Business success stories and case studies that allow us contextualise learning within the daily routines of companies.
  • Research reports and economic analysis created by OBS.

International Vision

Within the current global environment, we need professionals who can think globally and understand and take advantage of the specific characteristics of each market. The international approach of the OBS methodology ensures the diversity of references, previous experiences and ways of thinking and understanding business.

Efficient investment of time

The OBS methodology is flexible and efficient because it provides maximum skill development within the established timeframe. This allows us to offer lecturers and students an appropriate work and study flow that is also flexible enough to allow them to follow the programme and combine it with their professional and family obligations.

Methodological support elements

  • Activities, conferences and networking

During the programme a series of Webconferences and Webinars are organised with directors and experts from companies and organisations that deal with contemporary subjects, trends and innovations as well as with recruitment and professional development.

The objective of these activities is to show participants the reality of the business environment through the analysis of successful management case studies, so they can better understand their own environment and, more specifically, to promote the programme of networking between participants, teachers and professionals.

  • Virtual Campus

The support of technology is key to the academic methodology of the School because it is the environment in which the learning experience is generated. The OBS Virtual Campus is designed so that students can easily and intuitively access all academic resources and updated information about the programme (notes, grades and teaching materials, among other things) and the School.

The Virtual Campus promotes communication between the students, faculty and members of OBS thanks to the Blackboard IM video chat, the Blackboard Collaborate videoconferences tool and links to the social network profiles of students, effectively turning the academic environment into a social learning network that involves all the members of the OBS Community.

In addition, the Campus includes Blackboard Mobile technology that optimises its usability on phones, tablets and other mobile devices using Android, iOS or BlackBerry. Blackboard Mobile is the campus currently used by internationally renowned universities such as Princeton, Stanford and Duke.
